EastEnders viewers slam ‘distasteful’ episode after body rolls out of coffin at funeral parlour

Fans felt producers had gone too far

EastEnders fans have been left outraged after a dead body rolled out of a coffin during the most recent episode of the soap.

Viewers branded the scenes, which took place in a funeral parlour, ‘disgusting’ and ‘diabolical’ on social media.

One wrote: “What is going on with EastEnders? The robbery was absolutely diabolical and now the coffin and dead body, has the producer lost its head or something [sic]”.

Another tweeted: “1. I saw that coming. 2. That is disgusting! Throwing a deceased old woman on the floor. #EastEnders”.

While a third commented: “I found the whole scenes in the funeral parlour really distasteful. I know it’s just a show but if you’ve been there it’s quite emotional and some things should be respected”.

Wednesday’s episode of the BBC’s flagship soap saw Aidan Maguire ask Billy Mitchell to hide some stolen cash for him.

But when Mick Carter, Phil Mitchell, Keanu Taylor and Vincent Hubbard headed to Billy’s funeral parlour to retrieve the money, they were shocked to find it had gone missing.

In their desperation to get their hands on the goods they overturned a coffin, sending the dead body inside rolling onto the floor.

EastEnders continues Thursday, January 4 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
