Dancing on Ice viewers are convinced that Wes Nelson’s latest song choice was a dig at his ex-girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson.

The former Love Island star and his skating partner Vanessa Bauer were praised by the judges for their routine to Labrinth’s Jealous, eventually scoring a massive 38 out of 40, but viewers thought that the backing track might have a not-so secret subtext.

“Skating to jealous? Nice dig at Megan,” one viewer suggested on Twitter.

“Wes dancing to Jealous [laughter emoji] subtle,” another wrote.

“Are they really just trying to wind up his ex?” a third asked.

Others, however, suggested that the show’s emphasis on Nelson and Bauer should be “toned down” out of respect for his ex-girlfriend.

“Think they need to tone down the Wes and Vanessa showmance thing,” one Twitter user posted. “Whatever you think of Megan, she is clearly hurting and this can’t be nice.

The Dancing on Ice star has previously dispelled any rumours of a romance between him and his partner, telling OK! magazine that the skating pro is not his “cup of tea.”

Nelson and Barton Hanson met as contestants on the ITV dating show last summer, but called time on their relationship last month, announcing the split in a statement that parodied Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s infamous “conscious uncoupling” announcement.

Earlier this week, Nelson suggested that his rigorous training schedule for the show was “heavily involved” in their decision to part ways, telling This Morning that his inability to “spend quality time” with Barton Hanson left her feeling “down” and “sad.”

Meanwhile, his ex-girlfriend has previously accused the show of sabotaging their relationship by pairing him with “the youngest, hottest skater.”

Dancing on Ice airs on ITV at 6pm on Sundays.
