On Wednesday evening, the nation was shocked by the announcement of Dale Winton’s sudden death.

The beloved quiz show master died aged 62, his agent announced in a short statement, with fans quick to reminisce about his long showbiz career.

From Supermarket Sweep to National Lottery's In It To Win It, Winton was a popular face on the small-screen with iconic catchphrases such as "The next time you’re at the checkout and you hear the beep, think of the fun you could be having on Supermarket Sweep," imprinted in memories.

Although Winton started in local radio and as a DJ, it was his presence on the box that catapulted him to stardom. Here is a round-up of Winton's gameshows.

Supermarket Sweep

When most hear Winton’s name, Supermarket Sweep springs to mind.

The gameshow saw contestants split into three teams of two, each starting with 60 seconds on their clock and answering questions correctly to add time to the clock.

They then took part in the Big Sweep round, in which they had to race around the supermarket collecting shopping items from up and down the aisles.

Whoever packed their trolley with the most value would go on to the Super Sweep round.

The show enjoyed success from 1993 to 2001, even spawning a reboot in 2007.

Touch The Truck

In 2001, Winton fronted Channel 5's Touch The Truck, which tasked a group of 20 contestants with staying in contact with a stationary vehicle.

Filmed at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, Essex, the aim was that whoever kept hold of the truck the longest, won it.

National Lottery: In It To Win It

In recent years, Winton became a staple of Saturday night as he hosted the National Lottery's In It To Win It show – encompassing the Thunderball and Lotto draws - for 18 series between 2002 and 2016.

Five contestants started the show in the waiting area, hoping the machine would select the ball corresponding with their colour to allow them to enter Winners’ Row. Once there, they faced questions to add £5,000 per correct answer to the prize fund but if they got one wrong they would be banished to the Red Area. Once in the Red Area, the contestant could either make it back to Winners’ Row with a correct answer or skulk back to the waiting area with an incorrect answer.

They battled it out to put up to £100,000 in the prize fun and one final question for those in Winners’ Row determined if they walked away with a share of the money accumulated.

Show Me What You've Got

Endemol chose Winton to host their 2006 venture Show Me What You've Got back in 2006.

However, the programme did not receive a full series.

Winton returned to the BBC in 2008 to present much-famed Hole In The Wall.

Two teams of celebrity players had to try manoeuvre themselves through cutout holes of varying shapes in a large wall moving towards them as they stood in front of a swimming pool.

They competed for £10,000 prize money which they donated to their chosen charity.

Winton took charge of the first series but was replaced for the second run by Strictly Come Dancing favourite Anton du Bek a year later.

Dale's Great Getaway

In 2012 Winton hosted the one-off Dale's Great Getaway on ITV.

It featured three families competing in a series challenges to try to win up to £15,000 and a holiday.
