Daisy McAndrew, the former Economics Editor and Chief Political Correspondent of ITV News, will front London Live’s coverage of the upcoming London mayoral election.

McAndrew said she is “thrilled” to be joining the capital’s TV channel where she will anchor all of the coverage.

She said: "I'm thrilled to be hosting these exciting shows, looking at all aspects of the race to be London's next Mayor. As a lifelong and proud Londoner and a passionate believer that politics is not only important but can be fun too, I can't wait to get stuck in."

McAndrew's coverage will see her host London Votes - an hour-long programme which will air weeknights for the final two weeks running up to the election.

McAndrew will speak exclusively with the party candidates which include, Zac Goldsmith, Sadiq Khan, Sian Berry, Caroline Pidgeon, Sophie Walker, Peter Whittle, George Galloway and the capitals first Mayor Ken Livingstone. Issues from London’s housing crisis to transport and policing will be discussed.

She will also give her expert analysis of the London Mayoral Hustings with the London Evening Standard, where the main candidates will be speaking, on April 21.

Jim Grice, Head of News and Current Affairs for London Live said, he is “delighted” to welcome McAndrews into the team and praised her “extensive” political knowledge.

Speaking about London Live’s coverage he said: “As the election campaign enters the crucial final weeks of the campaign, we will be dedicating an hour every evening to give detailed but accessible and informative coverage of the battle to be London’s mayor and to run City Hall. The Mayor and Assembly control many key aspects of life in the capital and we want to make sure that Londoners are given the best information possible to help them decide how their city is run”.

London Votes will air weekdays from April 21 at 6pm on London Live, Freeview 8, YouView 8, Sky 117 and Virgin 159.
