Roxanne Pallett has admitted that she “got it wrong” over allegations Ryan Thomas “punched” her in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The former Emmerdale actress alleged that Thomas hurt her during the altercation in the famous Elstree house, which she walked out of over the weekend.

Appearing on Jeremy Vine, Pallett said: “He did, at the time it hurt but when I look back at the footage when I left the house and I got it wrong.

“After it happened I just felt like, I don’t know how to explain it other than my mind ran away with me, I am a sensitive person and everything in that house becomes so heightened. Insecurities are heightened.

“All I can say is that in the moment it felt worse than it was. I can’t prove a feeling. It was the word ‘deliberately’ I regret, massively.”

She continued: “I massively apologise to not just Ryan but to his family his friends his fans and everyone who watched that and everyone who saw an overreaction to what wasn’t a malicious act.

“In that moment I mistook what was playful and it was the word deliberately I regret. I doubted his intentions and there was no malicious intention behind it. I got it wrong.”

Pallett, 35, went on to say that she "wasn't thinking straight" and knows she needs to "go away and work on things" after her reaction to what happened.

But the actress added that she was "devastated" to think that people felt she was "playing down abuse", responding to some of the backlash her "overreaction" provoked.

Pallett also said she wasn't getting paid for the interview and was advised against the appearance, but felt it was something she wanted to do to "face her reality now".

The actress said: "I chose to be here today. In fact, I was advised not to. I’m not being paid for this interview.

"It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, coming here today. ‘This is my reality now. I’m here to acknowledge a mistake."

Jeremy Vine on 5 airs weekdays from 9.15am on Channel 5.
