The cast of the upcoming Are You Being Served reboot has been revealed.

The classic British sitcom is making a one-off return later in 2016 as part of a BBC comedy season to celebrate 60 years of TV comedies.

The special is due to be filmed in front of a live studio audience, with other legendary shows including Porridge and The Good Life also expected to receive new episodes.

Mr Humphries will be portrayed by Jason Watkins, following original actor John Inman’s death in 2007. Watkins won two BAFTAs in 2014 for the lead role in The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.

Taking on the role of Mrs Slocombe will be Sherrie Hewson, currently known as Joyce Temple-Savage in ITV comedy-drama Benidorm, taking over from Mollie Sugden, who passed away in 2009.

Also due to take on classic roles in the comedy revival are John Challis, aka Boycie from Only Fools and Horses, Corrie’s Roy Barraclough, Niky Wardley, and Arthur Smith.

Arriving in a new role, Gavin & Stacey’s Mathew Horne will be playing Young Mr Grace, who will drive the plot of the episode, tasked with bringing Grace Brothers into the ‘present day’ of the special’s 1988 setting. Jorgie Porter has been cast as Miss Grace.

Will the new cast members do justice to the originals? Find out when the episode airs later in 2016.
