Former MP Ann Widdecombe blasted cheating Strictly Come Dancing star’s Seann Walsh and Katya Jones for their “lack of control” after they were pictured kissing.

The pair, who were both in long-term relationships at the time, were spotted sharing a passionate embrace in snaps that emerged last weekend.

Both Walsh – who has since been dumped by Rebecca Humphries – and Jones, married to fellow professional Neil Jones, have apologised for their indiscretions, which have reunited talk of a Strictly Curse.

But former Strictly contestant Widdecombe blasted the idea of a “hex” on the show – and ruled out getting “jiggy” with Anton Du Beke in 2010.

Widdecombe told Good Morning Britain: “Don’t be silly! The point is, he was in it for the dancing, I was in for the fun and relaxation and that is what Strictly is supposed to be about.

“There is no such thing, Piers, as ‘The Curse of Strictly’, it isn’t some hex that makes people behave that way, it’s their own lack of control.

“I have to say if I had been Katya’s husband, I would have just demanded she left the show for the rest of the series. I would have said, ‘I can’t trust you now you have to leave the show’.”

Widdecombe, 71, added that since Neil “hasn’t taken that line” then the decision lay with the viewers and whether or not they want to watch the couple in the competition.

She said: “It’s perfectly valid for the viewers to say, ‘I was going to vote for them but I think now I won’t because I don’t want to watch this for however many weeks it is’.”

The show revealed that the pair will dance a Charleston to Bills by Lunchmoney Lewis.

The reveal followed reports suggesting their routine was changed to a more “sombre” performance, although it is unclear if this was actually the case.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV. Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday October 13 at 6.40pm on BBC One.
