Top of the bill - all of the 14 Billy Elliots

All for one: The West End Billy Elliots of past, present and future

How many Billy Elliots does it take to perform a medley? Judging by this picture, at least 14.

The boys - all West End stage Billy Elliots of the past, present and future - joined together for the first and only time for a TV special to be screened next week.

They include Liam Mower, now 15, and James Lomas, 17, who both appeared in the first run of the musical in 2005, Glaswegian Sam Angell and American Corey Snide, both 13, who are the current Billy Elliots, and Joshua Fedrick, 13, from Saltash, Cornwall, who will shortly take over the role.

The role is shared among its young stars because of the gruelling hours they must put in.

A spokeswoman for the show said: "We've had an Irish Billy, a black Billy, an American Billy and a Chinese Billy.

"It was great to get them up on stage together for what will definitely be the only time."

The actors sang and danced at the New London Theatre show to mark 60 years of Bafta.

Happy Birthday Bafta is on ITV1 at 9pm on 7 November.
