An all-star performance of The Wiz will be broadcast for free next week as part of the ongoing The Shows Must Go On series.

Queen Latifah, Mary J Blige, Ne-Yo, Uzo Aduba, Amber Riley and Common are among the stars of the 2015 version of the show, which is based on L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz.

In the show, Shanice Williams plays Dorothy, who is transported by a tornado to the Land of Oz where she searches for the Wizard so she can find her way home. The performance was captured as a live television special and broadcast on NBC, with Cirque du Soleil performers also taking part in the performance.

The stream will take place on Friday 12 June at 7pm and be available on demand for 48 hours around the world, except Latin America and Asia.

Viewers are encouraged to make donations to the NAACP, an American civil rights organisation which was founded in 1909.

The announcement follows the news that tonight’s planned stream of Peter Pan, starring Allison Williams and Christopher Walken, has been postponed. Instead, The Shows Must Go On channel has posted a message in support of Black Lives Matter.
