Lingerie model and television presenter Danielle Bux is to make her stage debut in the farewell tour of the hit show Calendar Girls.

The new signing of Mrs Gary Lineker, who follows a string of star names including Jerry Hall and Kelly Brook to have bared all for art, comes as the production has outsold the original movie with ticket receipts of more than £20 million.

The show is based on the true story of Women's Institute members who posed nude with strategically placed cup cakes, watering cans and pianos for a calendar to raise money for leukaemia research. But producers David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers have decided next year will be the final fling for the production which has now been running for three years. The show has taken over from Nigel Havers in Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca as most successful play tour in the UK.

This week the current cast, including Elaine C Smith and Ruth Madoc, is at the New Wimbledon Theatre. Bux, 31, will join the cast at the Bristol Hippodrome in January for a tour also including Milton Keynes. Dafydd Rogers said Butt had trained as an actress and the casting did not stem from her modelling work.

"The wonderful thing about Calendar Girls is that the comedy comes out of what you don't see rather than what you do," he said.
