Lily Savage pantomime show cancelled due to faulty magic carpet

Paul O’Grady’s farewell outing as Lily Savage has been cancelled tomorrow due to technical difficulties with the magic carpet.

Producers of Aladdin A Wish Come True have decided to pull the 2pm matinee on Wednesday 12 December as crucial work needs to be carried out on mechanics and special effects in preparation for the press night later that day.

Talk-show host Paul O’Grady quit playing his alter-ego Lily Savage in 2004. After pressure from fans, he agreed to only resurrect her to play Widow Twankey in the Aladdin shows.

Producer Michael Rose said: “If we didn’t do the necessary work tomorrow, the magic carpet may not have flown at the matinee performance either, and we really don’t want to disappoint the public.

“We will accommodate everyone booked in for tomorrow’s matinee at another performance of their choice, subject to availability”.
