Gwyneth's '£350 role at the Donmar'

As a member of the Hollywood A-list she can expect to earn millions for her film roles - but Gwyneth Paltrow is planning to accept around £350 a week to appear on stage in London.

Miss Paltrow, 29, will be in town this May for a six-week run at the Donmar Warehouse in Proof with Shakespeare In Love director John Madden directing, according to reports in the US. Miss Paltrow was in London this weekend, when she met Jude Law and Sadie Frost to discuss future film projects. She has said she would like to set up a permanent home in the capital.

She is also rumoured to be considering a stage role at the Old Vic, where Kevin Spacey is among the board members. Securing Miss Paltrow as a cast member in the Tony Award-winning play would be the icing on the Donmar's 10th-anniversary season, which will be Sam Mendes's last as artistic director of the 250-seat theatre.

Philip Seymour Hoffman directing Jesus Hopped The 'A' Train as part of its American Imports season is already set to be one of London's drama highlights in the coming year, as will Simon Russell Beale's appearances as Malvolio and Uncle Vanya.

Paltrow has previously performed on stage at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in the United States.
