Pharrell Williams today said he “never dreamed” he would have the chance to share the same bill as Stevie Wonder, as he was added to the line-up for Hyde Park this summer.

He also paid tribute to London’s musical heritage, ahead of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time on Sunday July 10. He will be the main support for Wonder, 65, who is due to play his 1976 album Songs In The Key Of Life in its entirety.

Williams said: “The great news for me is that it’s Stevie Wonder — I’m going to frame my ticket, that’s for sure. I never dreamed in a million years this would happen. I remember as a little boy when my aunt purchased that album — I would play it over and over again. Stevie Wonder was a fixture in my life as a child. His music is probably the closest thing to auditory transcendence.”

The Happy singer added: “So much amazing music has come out of London. It’s always nice to perform in the same places that legendary artists have performed in, in their backyards.” Corinne Bailey Rae, also now on the line-up, said: “It’s a dream come true to be asked to join Stevie Wonder.”
