Gala Festival: Putting south in the spotlight

South London's independent food, drink and music will be put in the spotlight once more when Gala festival returns for its second year on the late May Bank Holiday Sunday.

Set in Brockwell Park in Herne Hill, and close to Brixton, the festival will host a lineup of internationally renowned DJs alongside food stalls and bars — all of which have roots in or ties to South London.

Iconic disco outfits Studio 54 and Paradise Garage will headline, while Horse Meat Disco is curating its own stage with guests to include Honey Soundsystem and Mood II Swing.

Other acts will include Late Night Tuff Guy, who will play a set dedicated to South London's very own David Bowie.

The impressive food offering will include stalls from Kricket and Made of Dough — both of which started out in container park Pop Brixton — as well as Chicken Shop, Bill or Beak and Camberwell dessert creators Fatties Bakery.
