Red Dead Online fans disappointed over 'bland' and 'boring"'Naturalist update

Despite the sizeable chunk of content, fans have been left wanting

Red Dead Online's biggest update in quite some time is now live, but are fans actually happy with it?

Twitter would tell you no and even after players were protesting the lack of updates in-game, it seems like the update hasn't sated their demands.

The new patch is called The Naturalist and it has added a new role to the game, along with quests to track legendary animals, use new weapons and more.

For multiple reasons, there hasn't been much new content added to Red Dead and this marks the first substantial addition to the game in a while.

Fans seem to be taking issue with the Naturalist role, connection issues, the cost of the update and most of what was added in general.

In the new update, you're able to take part in new missions with a new trader NPC Harriet Davenport. Her quests are all about tracking, hunting and studying the wonders of the animal kingdom in Red Dead Online.

Harriet is looking for help in tracking down specimens to further her knowledge of animals, to this end, you must help her research and not kill the animals.

Regardless, fans are criticising a lot of the new content surrounding this update.

As is normal with game updates, connection issues are always lurking around the corner.

Players are also calling out the 'underwhelming' outlaw pass, which is Red Dead's version of a typical Battle Pass, which rewards you with in-game items for playing and completing challenges.

It also seems that if you cross Harriet the Naturalist by harming and skinning animals, which is a way to make clothing and money in Red Dead, she will capture you and not issue you any more quests for some time.

Rockstar hasn't responded to any of this backlash at the moment and unless it becomes far more widespread it probably won't.

The Naturalist update also added some new camera options, new weapons like the bow and free mode events to get stuck into.
