eSport players to teach Londoners how to game like a pro

Ever wanted to become a professional gamer? Good news: it just got a little bit easier.

A new initiative from Red Bull, called Red Bull: Raise Your Game, is set to offer UK gamers the opportunity to raise their playing skills to brand-new highs by playing with pro gamers from the comfort of the Red Bull Gaming Sphere.

Based in Shoreditch, the Gaming Sphere will host players like Liam ‘Jukeyz’ Lunt (Call of Duty: Warzone), Jaden ‘Wolfiez’ Ashman (Fortnite) and Adel ‘Big Bird’ Anouche (Street Fighter), who’ll be taking on the role of coaches to the lucky gamers that get picked.

To enter, UK gamers can visit the company’s website to virtually tour the Red Bull Gaming Sphere and submit their entries. Simply tell the players where you’d like to improve and what you’d like to work on; the Red Bull expert panel will then evaluate the pool of submissions and select their favourite goals.

From there, the chosen players will get to embark on a boot camp where they’ll be able to play and raise their game opposite their mentor.

The competition is open from the 1st September 2023 at 00:01 AM BST until the 31st October 2023 at 11:59PM GMT. Even if you don’t manage to bag a spot, there’s also a silver lining: the first 3000 entrants will also be able to redeem a free Red Bull four-pack to help them raise their game at home.

The players who’ll be mentoring the competition winners are some of the best in the world at what they do: Jukeyz, who hails from West Derby, Liverpool, started out playing $1 wager matches for fun, before breaking into CoD via Battle Royale in 2019. In 2021, he placed first in thirteen different international gaming competitions.

Wolfiez, who plays Fortnite, is another Red Bull signing. He became the youngest esports player ever to win a million dollars when he placed second in the Fortnite World Cup Finals in 2019, at the age of fifteen. With two million followers across his channels, he is the highest earner in UK esports history.

Rounding off the trio is Big Bird, who specialises in Street Fighter. Hailing from the UAE, he’s been dominating the scene ever since he burst onto it in 2016. This year has seen the launch of Street Fighter VI, which he marked by winning the 2023 South Africa Edition, arguably his biggest tournament win yet.
