Is Call of Duty: Warzone getting an Apex Legends-inspired loot train?

Season 5 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone will be going live this week and it looks like a loot train is going to be added to the game.

Putting aside the clearly borrowed idea from Apex Legends, this loot train has been shown off in a new trailer along with some other Season 5 features.

In the video, we see the train blasting down the tracks and it seems like it is filled with loot and goodies to grab.

It looks like you'll either be able to hot drop onto the train immediately or use it to escape some hairy situations, ferrying you away from combat.

If the train is going to be anything like the World's Edge train in Apex Legends, a lot of squads are going to try and take it at the beginning of the map, dropping directly onto it as it moves through.

Expect some frantic firefights and, more often than not, finding no better guns so you'll have to jump off the train immediately.

We don't know specifically how the train will work at the moment until Season 5 officially launches, but the trailer has given us a pretty good idea of how the train will operate.

For instance, it does look like it will be taking a circuit around the map constantly, which will be good for quick repositioning.

From the trailer, we've also seen that it's going to destroy any vehicles (and most likely people) who are unfortunate enough to be on the tracks when it trundles by.

There are clear parallels to what Respawn Entertainment did when it implemented a train to Apex Legends in October 2019.

In the case of Apex, for the most part, the train is seen as an excellent addition — allowing you to use it for extremely satisfying escapes while being third-partied by another squad and also giving you an intense first fight if you drop there and manage to get one of the scarce guns.

It is perfect for adding more of a risk/reward dynamic to Apex, but it remains to be seen what it will do for Warzone.

Warzone, for example, lets you drop in with a gun so that already changes things up compared to Apex.

Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 will launch on Wednesday, August 5 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC
