How to grow money trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Found a shiny gold patch on your island? You could be planting money trees

Just like the old Animal Crossing games, you can plant bells to grow money trees in New Horizons.

If you've been diving headfirst into the calming world of Animal Crossing, you might have noticed that sometimes your island will have small glowing patches that you can dig up.

Once you do, you'll be rewarded with 1,000 bells and you can bury the cover the hole back up and be on your merry way... Or, you could bury the 1,000 you just got back into the hole.

If you notice, once you dig up the golden patch the hole left behind will still be glowing gold. So if you then bury the 1,000 Bells you just received, you can turn it into a tree in a matter of days.

Once the tree fully grows, it will continue to bear fruit. And fruit, in this case, comes in the form of sweet, sweet bells.

Each tree cycle will give you 3,000 bells, so unless you're really desperate for a cool 1,000, then you will be far better served to plant the tree and create a grove of money trees to fund your island escapades in perpetuity.

The glowing spots seemingly have a chance to appear each day, so you should definitely make good use of them if you find them.

If you need more Animal Crossing hints, we've covered how to get key materials like iron nuggets and how to stop your rocks from getting destroyed, and how to expand your inventory slots as well.
