Watch 'The Day After...' trailer!

Uh-oh...
10 April 2012

Explosions, disaster, catastrophe - that's what we want in our summer blockbuster movies, isn't it? And The Day After Tomorrow, this year's big-budget Hollywood offering, delivers it in spades.

Out on 28 May, it takes a topical subject matter — global warming — and looks at the disastrous consequences for planet Earth should the greenhouse effect continue at such high levels.

The movie stars Dennis Quaid as paleoclimatologist (clever chap who studies weather patterns) Prof. Adrian Hall and indie-flick favourite Jake Gyllenhaal as his son Sam. Sam's trapped in New York at the beginning of the second Ice Age, and while everyone else is desperately trying to migrate south, Adrian is going north to try and rescue him. In addition to this, he's trying to save the world, naturally...

Written and directed by Independence Day maker Roland Emmerich, The Day After Tomorrow is set to be a high-octane, terrifying and exciting ride with twisters, earthquakes, tidal waves and big freezes galore.
