Tim Burton confirmed for Monsterpocalypse

10 April 2012

Tim Burton has signed on to work on Monsterpocalypse.

The 'Alice in Wonderland' filmmaker is likely to play a directorial role on the film - based on the popular monster-battle board game - producer Roy Lee has confirmed to Slash Film.

However, no production date has been set as 'Corpse Bride' screenwriter John August is still penning the script.

It is expected the film will be shot in 3-D, and it has been confirmed the story will be about a group of giant monsters who attack earth, only to find humans will fight back.

Visual effects on the project will be handled by four-time Oscar winner Ken Ralston, who has previously worked on 'Forrest Gump' and 'Death Becomes Her' and worked with Burton on 'Alice in Wonderland'.

Burton's only other directorial project lined up is comedy animation 'Frankenweenie', due for release in 2012, although he is expected to work on 2011 horror thriller 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' as a producer.
