A cop movie — full of guns, explosions and sexual innuendo — that's actually as cosy as a Laurel and Hardy sketch. Kevin Hart is Ben, a sweet security guard more used to fighting the Taliban in video games than handling hardware on the streets of Atlanta. So he's childishly excited when his grouchy policeman brother-in-law-to-be (Ice Cube) offers him the chance to play cop for a day.

Naturally, Ben gets the pair into a fine mess. Naturally, they emerge unscathed. Ice Cube is a man with two expressions, while Hart has become a ubiquitous presence. Still, I liked his speech about why black teens shouldn't sign up for the army. His girlish shriek, too, is a thing of beauty.
