Americans in Paris: (left to right) Leighton Meester, Katie Cassidy and Selena Gomez in Monte Carlo
10 April 2012

Three girls from Texas (Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy, daughter of David) decide to venture across the Atlantic towards the bright lights of Paris.

When one of them is mistaken for a British socialite, they are swept off to Monte Carlo. The premise sounds passably entertaining but the result is dull. It wastes the talents of our own Catherine Tate, who is given nothing much to do as the real socialite's aunt, and writer-director Valérie LeMercier as a tour guide. In fact, the whole farrago is a comprehensive waste of time and money.
