Naive boy from the farmlands goes to New York and discovers that the cool dudes are mean, too.
Soon he's doing his homework in a makeshift animal shelter.
Then he meets a city girl cohabiting with one of her campus profs. Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari do their best to animate an underwritten tale of love in the asphalt jungle.
Greg Kinnear plays the snobby academic and music by Everclear is plugged incessantly.
