Jen breaks out of teen movies

I play Page Conners, part of a mother-daughter con-artist team who specialise in taking men to the divorce courts. After horror films such as I Know What You Did Last Summer, playing Page was a way for me to prove to myself. You can get stuck in teen movies and never get out of them - it was important to me to do a movie that had an adult audience.

I think Page has an unrealistic view of men. She sees the bad sides of them - untrusting men who fall for her because she's good. I don't think all men are like that. There are men who, if they find the right woman, are not that way, who are not easily swayed by the girl in the tight skirt.

But Page meets a lot of men who are that way, so she has an unrealistic view of them - which is why she's turned off by them in the beginning. Once she meets the good guy, the guy that every girl inevitably ends up with in her life, it takes her by surprise.

Working with Sigourney Weaver, who plays my mom, was great, though she did tend to mother me a lot. She lives in New York and she has a ten-year-old daughter who she didn't want to take out of school while we were filming in Florida and LA, so she missed her very much. Hence she took out her mothering skills on me on the set.

She was always saying, "Why is your dress so short?" and "Stop drinking Coca-Cola, you should be drinking water" and "You should go straight home after shooting and not go out with your friends!"
