Brokeback voted best romance

Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal star in Brokeback Mountain.

Gay western Brokeback Mountain has taken two more honours, this time in an online poll.

Ang Lee's film, which stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as two cowboys conducting a clandestine love affair, was named best romance by users of www.rotten tomatoes.com, an influential website which rates movies according to their reviews.

It saw off competition from Pride & Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley, and Will Smith's romantic comedy Hitch.

The film also topped the website poll's limited release category, ahead of David Cronenberg's A History Of Violence, to add to its four Golden Globes and eight Oscar nominations.

Other winners were Wallace and Gromit adventure The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit, which was named best animated film ahead of Tim Burton's Corpse Bride and Disney's Howl's Moving Castle, and King Kong, which won the wide release category ahead of Batman Begins and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.

Best action film was Batman Begins, best comedy was The 40-Year-Old Virgin and best family film was Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
