28 February 2014

A chance to see all the nominees in the Short Film and Short Animation categories and discover for yourself that stuffing a movie with household names doesn't guarantee a win. The crude, twee Orbit Ever After may feature Mackenzie Crook — while Keeping Up With The Joneses boasts the divine Maxine Peake — but both lost out to the far more intriguing Room 8.

The latter, directed by James W Griffiths, is a magical fable in a which a prisoner and a simple device form a circle of hell. Keep your eyes open, too, for Ben Mallaby's Island Queen (a droll swipe at hermetically sealed jokers) and Yousif Al-Khalifa's Sleeping With the Fishes, (a bloody cartoon about love).
