Alice in Wonderland on show at Vue

10 April 2012

Cinema chain Vue announced that it had reached a deal with Disney today which will see new movie Alice In Wonderland screened in all its cinemas.

Magical: Alice in Wonderland will be screened at Vue

There had been fears that the company would boycott the film, like Odeon, over a dispute with the film company.

But Vue said today that it had entered a "far reaching agreement" with Disney which means the Tim Burton film will be screened in the company's 69 cinemas in the UK and Ireland from March 5.

Another chain Cineworld has said it will be showing the film at 150 screens in its cinemas.

Odeon's stance has been a response to Disney's plan to reduce the gap between the film's cinema debut and DVD release to 12 weeks rather than the usual 17.

The chain, which has more than 100 cinemas in the UK alone, feared the proposals would set a new benchmark, leading to the 12-week window becoming standard.
