The Leader podcast: The story of London’s Women of the World festival

Matt Writtle

To mark International Women’s Day, we’re going behind London’s Women of the World festival.

The event celebrates the achievements of women and girls but also confronts global gender injustices.

Run by the WOW foundation, it all started off at London back in 2010 but has since grown exponentially - and is now held in 30 locations across six continents.

This year’s London festival runs from Friday 10th March until Sunday 12th at the Southbank Centre.

Jude Kelly CBE, founder and director of the WOW foundation, explains its history, their work and the importance of IWD.
