>Regent Street is already resplendent in its festive dress, and every other London street will soon boast edifyingly gaudy tinsel'n'tack combos of their own.

The Burlington Arcade decorations (pictured) will be characteristically classy, however: and tonight's switching-on ceremony will be flanked by live entertainment, celebrity appearances, shopping and an auction in aid of The Hackney Empire Appeal.
