Royal Mail gets first woman chief executive in Moya Greene

11 April 2012

Moya Greene, the head of Canada Post, was today named as the first female chief executive of the Royal Mail.

Greene will take up the post in July, replacing Adam Crozier, who left the organisation this year to join ITV.

Royal Mail chairman Donald Brydon said: "I am delighted that Moya is joining Royal Mail. She will bring energy, clear thinking and a proven leadership track record, as well as hugely relevant experience, to the business at an important moment in its evolution.

"I look forward to working closely with Moya as we tackle the challenges ahead and continue to focus on satisfying our customers and maintaining the six-days-a-week universal service."

Greene said: "I am honoured to be joining such a great company and to be working with its customers and its people at such a momentous time in its history."

She has been president and chief executive officer of Canada Post Corporation since 2005 and before that held senior roles at companies including Bombardier and TD Bank.

At Canada Post she has led a wide-ranging transformation programme to increase quality of service and efficiency across the organisation.
