AIDSfree: ‘Give the gift of life this Christmas' - George Osborne's appeal on Day 9 of our 12 Days of Christmas messages

Jason Collie21 December 2018

It is the season for giving, and you can help deliver the gift that will keep on giving every Christmas by supporting the Evening Standard's AIDSfree appeal.

Editor George Osborne today delivers the ninth of our 12 Days of Christmas messages, asking for readers to donate to the Evening Standard's Christmas appeal and support the work of the Elton John AIDS Foundation to try to eradicate the disease.

Part of the appeal's aim is to ensure people at risk of contracting HIV take tests to discover their status and then, if needed, access the type of medical care and support that will let them lead healthy and full lives.

Celebrities such as James Corden , Victoria Beckham and David Walliams have already appealed for your help and Mr Osborne said: "As editor of the Evening Standard, I am supporting the Elton John AIDS Foundation in its mission to rid the world of Aids.

"Now, the drugs are available to treat HIV, and if we can get people tested then we can eliminate AIDS across the world by 2030.

"That's down to the work of amazing scientists but we also need your help.

"Please donate to our appeal so we can give everyone an incredible present, not just this Christmas but for many, many years to come."

Donations will go towards Elton John AIDS Foundation projects in six key cities - London, Nairobi, Atlanta, Kiev, Delhi and Maputo.
